Growth refers to an increase in some quantity over time. The quantity can be growth in an amount of money-I like this one!)
or
Growth can be abstract as in a system becoming more complex, an organism becoming more mature-applicable since your business is like a like breathing organism
It can also refer to the mode of growth describing how much a particular quantity grows over time just like your business can.
Why is it so important to grow? Well if you’re not growing in some way you’re dying. Ok, ok that sounds pretty dire, but in a way it is.
We’re using the word growth as a synonym for learning, developing, challenging yourself, your understanding, your knowledge and businesses that stand still, stagnate and don’t change in any way, usually don’t flourish or prosper
A business that doesn’t grow in some way is probably not going to succeed. So a business that looks to new markets grows in one way, a business that trains employees to be competent in several skills sets is growing in another. It is not critical that your business becomes the largest on earth, it matters that your business grow in the right ways.
That’s what the 7 stages of enterprise growth is all about. Your growth could be all about you learning to manage the financial aspects of your business better.
It could be that you want to be a better e-commerce guru-so you learn to develop those skills (now you’re growing) and you bring in more cash, your business grows and your grow. You become a better owner, better CEO, better manager…well you get it.
And people who don’t challenge themselves may not end up where they wish to be. Developing new habits, learning new coping mechanisms, becoming more motivated, learning new problem solving skills. All this activity means GROWTH in one way or another. You personally and professionally become better. More growing!
So, some kind of growth is always good. Lets learn more…
