In today’s business climate, if something’s not changing it’s probably dead. The company to which you’ve given your heart, your soul and your undying loyalty could merge, be sold or be gone!  Whether the transitions are personal or professional change and our reactions to change are predictable. Most of us don’t really like change, particularly when we don’t have control over the changes. Truth is well thought out change can be most beneficial while hasty changes to methodology and processes may not be. One situation that illustrates this well is when an organization is looking to purchase a new computer system. Often the purchasers never get the input from the users. In this situation, change is almost always a disaster.

Leaders of organizations know and understand how change can impact an employee, therefore they want to delay the communication regarding the changes for as long as possible in order to avoid the reaction. This is the best example of what NOT to do. When change is looming, or is about to occur communication about the upcoming change is critical, and the more the better. You will still have reactions, but the time in agony will be lessened by more information.

Sue will help you understand why you react to change like you do. Often, when change occurs, there will be some who adapt quickly and welcome change, while others are resistant and openly hostile to change. It is vital to be aware of and acknowledge your reactions and ultimately adapt to the new situation and learn to accept, if not love change!

And…here’s what they said

Sue brought valuable information to this seminar. I am anxious to implement her ideas as soon as I get back to work!

Great points for helping my organization work through major changes. Her positive vibe made me want to see her again and she was great.
